LAST UPDATED 25 June 1996
Now the year is in full swing the 1996 Caving Diary has been amended to keep up with events. It is important that if you want to go on a trip etc. you call the person responsible so they know that you are interested. If anyone has any comments on these or events not included please call me (Richard Vidler) on XXXX-XXX-XXX between 9 and 5pm Mon-Fri.
( ) denotes a bank holiday
22-23 Another permit (will this one get used?) has been arranged for Saturday down SLAUGHTER STREAM CAVE. If anyone is interested (meaning those of you who keep asking for a permit) please call me and tell me!
Wed10 INDOOR MEET: Fisht 95 expedition in Russia by Adrian and Richard. TBC
13-14 Sunday permit for Otter Hole. I'm afraid that this is now full (only 4 + 1 leader are allowed) but there'll be another one in the future.
27-28 This weekend may be good for holding a COTTAGE WEEKEND. There are not too many bits to do but Chris would appreciate any help you can give. For those not on holiday but fancy a break away COME ON DOWN! Adrian is also interested in going pot bashing down Theoretical Pot with a KANGO!!! Contact Adrian if you are interested in this activity.
This weekend is also the beginning of the Matienzo expedition organised by Paul Stacey and MUSS which will probably run to 17-18 Aug. Anyone interested in going call Paul for further info.
3-4 It's about time the club had another weekend to Devon, the home of short caves and clotted cream. If anyone is interest in going either on this date or another please call me soon so I can book accommodation. As the nights are still long this will be a good time to travel down to the West Country.
24-25-(26) It's the last bank holiday of the year! Potential for an OFD 1 trip with Chris C. and it's time for a clean-up trip down Porth-yr-Ogof. If anyone is interested in organising a BBQ or similar please call me or Eric for information.
Hugh's 30th Birthday in the Vercors. So far there are a number of members going out for the full week so come and join what promises to be a great party.
Wed11 OUTDOOR/INDOOR MEET: "A trip into Tunnel Road East, Reigate. A small sand mine which was used during World War II as an air raid shelter. Also later as a wine cellar. With (hopefully) a visit to Tunnel Road West which is also a sand mine but is now utilised as a firing range by a gun club. Finally retiring to the Nutley Hall Pub for BEER!"
21-22 Keep Saturday free for Tania's 30th!
??-?? Freshers trip to Yorkshire with ULSA. Caves include Sunset Hole, Great Douke & Roaring. For the more experienced there's Black Shiver, Meregill etc.
19-20 Second MENDIP trip of the year (organised by me anyway...), this time the accommodation will hopefully be The Bull Terrier pub in Croscombe. This is a weekend of staying in a 15th century FREE HOUSE only 20 minutes drive from Priddy. Cooked breakfast will probably be provided with a full menu for evening meals. Remember, as residents the bar never shuts!!
2-3 Fire works weekend. Dates yet to be agreed with Village Cricket Club.
Wed13 INDOOR MEET: Graham Christian on the South East Cave Rescue Organisation including cave electronics (communications etc.)

(25)-(26) CHRISTMAS (hic!) and BOXING DAY (how much did I eat?)
28-29 For those who want to spend the New Year in a far exotic place this isn't for you, but if cold, snowy Scotland appeals then Eric is organising what promises to be an excellent time up north. For information please call Eric Downer soon as he requires deposits to book rooms. (Approx. December 27th - January 2nd)
